Summary

Farmstead dates to at least the early-mid 19th century, based on cartographic evidence. However, documentary sources exist that record Combeshead from the early 14th century, so it may have earlier origins. Lies close to neighbouring West Combeshead Farm (MDV113141).

Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

Depicted on the Tithe Map; 132 on the Harford apportionment, this farmhouse is smaller than it's neighbour to the west. The map shows only the farmhouse and one building to the north at this time.


Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

The late 19th century historic map shows the building to the north of the farmhouse has gone and been replaced by a range of buildings around the north and north-east sides of the yard.
