Full description

Urmston, Ben, 2008, Avon Support Main, between Roborough and Houndall, near Plymouth, Devon. (Report - Geophysical Survey). SDV358939.

A geophysical survey was undertaken of a proposed 13km water main between Roborough and Houndall, near Plymouth, Devon. Several sites of archaeological interest were detected.
A number of linear and isolated anomalies were apparent in Area B4, and may be of archaeological interest. It should be noted that the magnetic background is much quieter and more uniform than in adjacent areas, suggesting that responses have been subdued by an increased overburden, perhaps a result of alluvium from the nearby spring and stream to the north.

Taylor, S. R., 2009, Avon SWW Pipeline, Devon: Archaeological Mitigation Archive report, 13, Fig. 5 (Report - Assessment). SDV364052.

Archaeological work in Area B4 revealed a band of grey material, 30m wide by 0.3m deep, coinciding with a terrace on the hillslope. The material is possibly alluvial in origin but contains a large number of medieval and post medieval finds.
A field ditch [1192] was also identified but not excavated and a small pit [1416] containing a single burnt fill.

Ordnance Survey, 2015, MasterMap (Cartographic). SDV357601.
