Full description
Urmston, Ben, 11/2008, Avon Support Main, between Roborough and Houndall, near Plymouth, Devon. (Report - Geophysical Survey). SDV358939.
A geophysical survey was undertaken of a proposed 13km water main between Roborough and Houndall, near Plymouth, Devon. Several sites of archaeological interest were detected.
Numerous linear anomalies and trends are aligned approximately perpendicular to the western field boundary (Area B6), and it is likely that they are the result of former ploughing. The stronger linear anomalies may be the remnants of ridge and furrow.
The adjacent site (Area B7), shows the majority of this dataset is dominated by the ferrous response from a modern service towards the northern extent of the survey area. A series of short sub-linear anomalies is apparent immediately south of the response of the service.
