HER Number:MDV113238

Summary

A dark V-shaped cropmark, visible on aerial photographs taken in 1984, resembles the southern part of a rectilinear ditched enclosure of later prehistoric or Romano-British type. However dark linear cropmarks of probable geological origin are also visible, so interpretation is tentative.

A dark V-shaped cropmark, circa 2 metres wide, is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1984 just south of Spurfield House. In form it resembles the southern part of a rectilinear enclosure of later prehistoric or Romano-British type, and the cropmark may have formed over a buried ditch. However it is only visible on a single run of aerial photographs, and dark linear cropmarks of probable geological origin are visible on broadly the same alignment as the longer edge of the possible enclosure, so interpretation is tentative.
