Summary

No longer extant. Farmstead dates to at least the early-mid 19th century, based on cartographic evidence, but may be earlier. Has been totally demolished at some time in the later 20th century, due to the construction of Linhay Hill Quarry.

Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

'Balland' shown on 19th century Tithe Map as an L-shaped building with a rectangular building at right angles to the north-east corner. The Apportionment lists Field Number 984 as 'Ballard Meadow' and Field Number 986 as 'House, Garden & c'.

Balland shown on 19th century map as a rectangular group of buildings around and irregular shaped yard with a pump shown as 'P' in the yard.
