The only narrow gauge passenger railway in Devon, the line operated between 1898 and 1935.
Thomas, D. St. J., 1981, A Regional History of Railways of Great Britain, 106-7 (Monograph). SDV168.
The railway opened 16th May 1898 a year later than scheduled. It paid a dividend from 1913-1921 but in 1922 a loss was made and the company sold the railway to the Southern Railway. The last train ran on 29th September 1935.
