Several curvilinear earthwork ditches, between 5 and 10 metres in width, are visible on aerial photographs from 1969 and on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. Similar earthworks in the area correspond to the locations of former field boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map, and they broadly fit in to the extant field system to the west and south, which is medieval in character. The most likely interpretation is that the cropmarks formed over boundary ditches of a medieval field system that became disused before the mid-19th century.
