An earthwork pit, up to 65 metres across, is visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. It mostly corresponds to an area depicted as orchard on the historic mapping, and may have been used for the cultivation of fruit trees because of the shelter the pit provided. It is interpreted as a post-medieval or early modern extraction pit that had ceased operation by the mid-19th century.
