A ‘Sand Pit’ is labelled here but not depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s.

A sand pit of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1945 onwards, to the south of Dymond’s Farm. The elongated shaped feature, which measures approximately 30m in length by 15m in width and abuts Bishop’s Court Lane, is labelled as a Sand Pit, but not depicted on, the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. The extent of the former sand pit remains visible on Lidar-derived images of 1998 and 2005, although appears to have been largely levelled.
