Summary

Parallel linear earthwork banks, visible on aerial photographs taken between 1946 and 1969, are interpreted as post-medieval or 19th century tree planting banks. Some have been levelled in the second part of the 20th century, but others are visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014.

Orchard trees are depicted in these two fields.

Parallel linear banks, between 3.5 and 5 metres wide, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken between 1946 and 1969. Their location corresponds to two fields depicted as orchard on the late-19th century mapping and they are interpreted as tree planting banks of probable post-medieval or 19th century date. Their variable size and orientation could indicate that they were created in more than one phase. The field to the north has been landscaped and a series of ponds are now present in this location, but earthworks are visible in the field to the south on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. This area may still be in use as an orchard.
