Orchard banks of probable post-medieval to modern date are visible as a series of linear earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1963 onwards, at Pinbrook Orchard. Orchards are depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. Aerial photographs of 1946 show that the site of the orchards are covered with fruit trees, although by 1963 these have been completely grubbed up, leaving a series of parallel northeast to southwest aligned earthwork banks, on which the fruit trees were established, visible. These banks occupy an area of approximately 1.25 hectares of moderate east and west sloping ground either side of Pinn Brook, within three adjacent elongated plots depicted on the First Edition OS map. The orchard banks remain visible on Lidar-derived images of 2005.
