Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2014-2015, East and Mid Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV356883.

Cropmarks which have formed over possible infilled fiel boundary ditches of uncertain date are visible on oblique aerial photohraphs of 1984, to the northeast of Ash Bungalow, Pinhoe. The fragmented cropmarks are fairly poorly defined but are broadly northnorthwest to southsoutheast aligned and are visible on the northern side of the Pinhoe railway line and to the north of Pin Brook enclosure. The nature of the cropmarks are, however, largely uncertain. They do not generally respect the historic field boundaries depicted on the Pinhoe Parish Tithe Map of approximately 1838-48, so may have potential prehistoric origins, particularly given the proximity to the enclosure to the south. Their poor clarity however, may also suggest a more recent date, perhaps from modern agricultural practice, such as land drainage. A possible cropmark double-ditched ring ditch located inbetween the linear features was also visible on the same aerial photographs.
