The banks do not correspond with any listed orchard, although an orchard is listed in the Tithe Apportionments for the field immediately to the north.

Evidence of a possible former orchard of probable post-medieval to 19th century origin was visible as low and narrow earthwork banks on aerial photographs of the 1940s onwards on the slopes of a narrow combe on the north-facing slopes south of Huxham.
The banks are arranged roughly west to east, crossing the contours of the combe and were probably made to aid drainage into the stream that flows northwards along the combe, immediately to the west.
The plot of land within which the banks were visible was not depicted as an orchard on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map or listed as an Orchard on the Tithe Apportionments for Huxham, although the fields immediately to the north are. This might support the interpretation that any orchard in this location was cleared of trees some time prior to circa 1840.
The banks remain visible as low earthworks on recent images derived from lidar data, as do the banks relating to the orchards to the north. However, as these orchards were depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map and still planted in the 1940s they have not been transcribed as part of the NMP survey.
