Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2014-2015, East and Mid Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV356883.

A former quarry or extractive pit of probable post-medieval to 19th century date was visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s onwards as earthworks on the north-west facing slopes of Stoke Hill.
The irregularly triangular earthworks measured approximately 90 metres across and remained visible as subtle earthworks on images derived from lidar data. The earthworks correspond in part with an area of rough ground depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map. However, no function for the relict pit is shown and the only conclusion that can be drawn is that the pit was disused by the mid to late 19th century.
