A series of earthwork ditches of uncertain function but of likely post-medieval to modern date are visible on aerial photographs of 1963 onwards, to the east of Cannington Farm. The three linear and parallel earthworks are northwest to southeast aligned and are sited on moderate northwest sloping ground. The function of the earthworks is, however, largely unclear, although may have served as drainage ditches of some kind, carrying water downslope towards the northwest. They have been clearly truncated by, and so pre-date, construction of the Axminster and Lyme Regis Light Railway which is first depicted on the Second Edition Ordnance Survey map of between 1904-07. The earthwork ditches remain visible on Lidar-derived images of 1998-2014.
