Richard Sims, 2015-2016, Marshwood Vale National Mapping Programme (NMP) project (Interpretation). SDV359291.

An earthwork of a probable 19th century landscaped garden terrace is visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, associated with and on the northeast side of Woodhouse. The site of Woodhouse itself is first depicted on the Uplyme Parish Tithe Map of approximately 1838-48, although by the time of the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, the building appears to have been rebuilt further to the northeast. Associated with this later build and also partly depicted on the First Edition OS Map is a rectangular shaped earthwork platform or terrace of a probable landscape garden feature or lawn. This earthwork measures approximately 41m in length by 17m in width and remains visible on Lidar-derived images of 1998-2014.
