A number of quarries are depicted here within the surrounding area on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s.

A possible quarry of post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1951 onwards, to the northeast of Lane End Farm, Uplyme. The earthwork is sub-oval in shape, measures approximately 30m in diameter and is located in close proximity to a number of quarries and limekilns depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. Faint traces of the former quarry are visible on Lidar-derived images of between 1998-2014, although appears to have been almost completely levelled.
