Cropmarks which have formed over infilled ditches of possible former medieval or post-medieval boundaries are visible on aerial photographs of 1976, at Rhode Cottage. The two parallel cropmarks are curvilinear in shape and are northeast to southwest aligned. The southern of the two cropmarks is depicted as a field boundary on the Uplyme Parish Tithe Map of approximately 1838-48, although that to the north appears to have passed out of use by this time. The Historic Landscape Characterisation of the area is defined as medieval enclosures based on strip strips, so the cropmark ditches may have potential medieval origins. They are not visible on other aerial photographs or digital images made available to the survey.
