Quarries and limekilns are depicted in the vicinity here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s.

Earthwork pits of possible former quarries of post-medieval to modern date are visible on aerial photographs of 1963 onwards, to the west of White Ley Lodge. The two adjacent earthworks are sub-oval in shape, measure approximately 18m in length and are located in an area where a number of other such features have been recorded as part of this survey, as well as those depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. The possible quarries remain visible on Lidar-derived images of between 1998-2014.
