Full description

Bampton, J. + Morris, B., 15/06/2015, Land off Muxbeare Lane, Willand (Report - Evaluation). SDV359294.

Desk-based assessment and evaluation undertaken in advance of a proposed development.

The 1802 OS surveyor’s draft map shows quite an extensive settlement flanking the lane at Muxbeare; the lane terminates immediately to the south at Willand Moor, a relatively large area of unenclosed land criss-crossed by roads. The surveyor’s draft maps are usually fairly accurate regarding roads, settlements and enclosed land, but the depiction of fields is often speculative rather than reliable.

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.
