Cropmarks which have formed over possible levelled banks of medieval or post-medieval date are visible on aerial photographs of 1976, on Whitty Hill. The linear cropmarks are northwest to southeast aligned and appear to intersect at their northwest extent, whilst flaring outwards towards the southeast. The cropmarks, albeit fairly diffuse, may represent plough-spread and levelled earthworks of former field boundaries which passed out of use by the time of the Uplyme Parish Tithe Map of approximately 1838-48. They are not visible on other aerial photographs or digital images made available to the survey.
