Bindon was included in the domesday manor of alsemunda, (axmouth). Before the conquest it belonged to king edward, afterwards to the king. A freehold within the manor of axmouth, it was the estate of nicholas bach in the 14th century. It was acquired from him by john wyke of north wyke in north tawton, and continued in his family for several generations (reichel).

The core is 15th century, largely rebuilt in 16th century and later. Stone mullioned windows, gables with square finials. Chapel on first floor. Moulded ceiling beams and plank and muntin partitions. Two storeyed ashlar porch. Arched entrance to forecourt (doe).

Air photos in the ncc collection at taunton show a variety of earthworks around the manor, suggesting a shrunken hamlet site. Location tracing in parish file.

Bindon House. Bindon was included in Domesday manor of Alsemunda. A variety of earthworks around the manor visible on Aerial Photographs suggest shrunken hamlet site. Core of house is 15th century, including chapel, largely rebuilt C16 and later. Listed Grade II*.
