Lysons, D. + Lysons, S., 1822, Magna Britannica, 23 (Monograph). SDV323771.

Licence to castellate the mansion granted in 1426. After 1611 the house fell into decay. "there are still (1822) remains of the ruins".

List of medieval owners. After 1626, the Manor of Weycroft was dismembered and various portions sold. Temp Charles II and James II dissenters met in the hall.

Weycroft. Medieval manorhouse with chapel now divided into two detached portions. For architectural details see sub sheets. Formerly with a park (See PRN 21842). History outlined. A Domesday manor sold to Thomas Bennett in 1611, who allowed the house to fall into a ruinous state. The house was subsequently (17th Cent) repaired and partially rebuilt. Much altered in the 19th Century when it first became 2 separate dwellings. Other details: Newspaper.
