Full description

Cornwall Archaeological Unit, 2001-2002, Tamar Valley National Mapping Programme Transcriptions and Database Records, 106G/1190/4281 (Interpretation). SDV346287.

Several banks have been recorded from cropmarks on aerial photograph 106G/1190/4281. They have been interpreted as two enclosures and an outlying bank dated as 'unknown prehistoric'.

Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2016, Backlog Recording of the Tamar Valley National Mapping Programme Survey (Personal Comment). SDV359374.

Only part of the photo reference is given in the transcription attributes, so the date of the photograph is not known. The smaller of the two enclosures (60 by 45 metres) seems to be contained within the larger one (120 by 430 metres), with a possible entrance on the eastern side, although the transcriptions do not form a complete circuit so this is supposition. Circa 40 metres to the east a third bank, again partial but roughly parallel to part of the larger enclosure, may be associated with this complex. The banks are between 1 and 3 metres in width. One segment of the larger enclosure was still an extant field boundary in the 20th century.
