Full description

Cornwall Archaeological Unit, 2001-2002, Tamar Valley National Mapping Programme Transcriptions and Database Records, RAF/V17/170/0016-7 (Interpretation). SDV346287.

The transcription of a curvilinear earthwork bank, probably a former field boundary, from aerial photographs RAF/V17/170/0016-7 corresponds closely to a database record of an earthwork field system recorded as being of ‘unknown medieval’ date south of Valley View Farm, Tavistock. The transcriptions of a curvilinear cropmark of a ditch approximately 300 metres to the north-west and a parallel bank and ditch 250 metres to the south-west were also probably evidence of former field boundaries, and probably part of the same database record.

Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2016, Backlog Recording of the Tamar Valley National Mapping Programme Survey (Personal Comment). SDV359374.

The aerial photograph reference given in the Tamar Valley NMP transcription attributes is incomplete; the date of the photograph is not included.
Further transcriptions corresponding to field boundaries depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map were probably part of the Tamar Valley NMP database record. Field boundaries depicted on historic maps do not now fall within the remit of NMP, and have therefore been excluded from this monument record.
