Full description

Cornwall Archaeological Unit, 2001-2002, Tamar Valley National Mapping Programme Transcriptions and Database Records, RAF/V17/170/0016-17 (Interpretation). SDV346287.

The transcription from aerial photographs RAF/V17/170/0016-17 of two cropmark or earthwork curvilinear ditches corresponds closely to a database record of a cropmark field system, recorded as being of ‘unknown medieval’ date, to the east of Highertown Farm.

The aerial photograph reference given in the Tamar Valley NMP transcription attributes is incomplete; the date of the photographs is not included.
Consideration of the topographic setting of the transcribed features might support the interpretation that they were actually evidence of a former catchwork water meadow of medieval to 20th century date.
