Earthwork pits of possible post-medieval to 19th century gravel pits are visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the northeast of Rosshayne Farm. The earthworks comprise a cluster of irregular, sub-oval and semi-circular shaped earthworks, with the southern-most of these appearing to be made up of at least three intercutting pits. The earthworks appear to have in part been cut into the side of a natural scarp, on steep southeast facing slope. Gravel pits are depicted in close proximity here to the east and west on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map, which gives a good indication as to the likely use of these earthworks. The earthworks remain visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016.
