An earthwork pit of a probable post-medieval to 19th century gravel pit is visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the northwest of Walnut Lodge. The earthwork is sub-oval in shape, measures approximately 50m in length by 27m in width and is located in close proximity to a number of gravel pits depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. The probable gravel pit remains visible as an earthwork on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016.
