Earthwork pits of possible post-medieval to 19th century clay pits are visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the southwest of Phillishayes Farm. The northern of the two earthworks is irregular in shape and measures approximately 46m in length by 38m in width and abuts an historic field boundary along its southern edge. The southern of the two earthworks is sub-oval in shape and measures approxiamtely 34m in length by 21m in width. The earthworks are located in an area where clay pits are depicted in proximity here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map, which gives good indication as to the use of these extraction pits. They remain visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016.
