An earthwork banked feature of a possible post-medieval to modern stock enclosure is visible on aerial photographs of 1944 and 1947, to the south of Purseys Cottage. The small rectilinear enclosure measures approximately 32m by 32m and abuts two historic field boundaries which form the north and east sides of the enclosure. A number of similar such enclosures are depicted in proximity here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. The function of these enclosures is uncertain, but most likely represent animal pens of some sort. The earthworks are visible on aerial photographs up until 1947 and although they are obscured on aerial photographs by dense vegetation cover after this date, they are visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016.
