Former field boundaries of between medieval to post-medieval date are visible as earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1996 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the north of Purseys Cottage. The field boundaries comprise a single linear northeast to southwest aligned bank, with short northwest to southeast aligned banks to the north of this. These earthworks to the north appear to be defined as a field boundary on the Parish Tithe map of approximately 1838-48, whilst that to the south has evidently passed out of use by this time. The Historic Landscape Characterisation project has defined this area as comprising ‘Medieval enclosures’ so may have potential medieval origins.
