Earthwork banks of probable post-medieval to 19th century date are visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the south of Livenhayes Farm. The earthworks, which are northwest to southeast aligned and occupy an area of approximately 0.85 hectares of moderate east facing slope, may represent the remains of agricultural improvement or represent the site of a former orchard, the banks providing improved drainage and increased soil depth for the fruit trees. Although an orchard is not depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, a number are shown within the immediate vicinity here. The earthwork banks remain visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016.
