Full description

Exeter Archaeology, 2003, East Devon Heathlands Archaeological Survey, 126, Part 2: Gazetteer, Site No. 296 (Report - Survey). SDV101648.

Series of at least five banks and associated ditches, mostly parallel, aligned northeast-southwest to southwest of Gittisham Hill House in area of open woodland. Banks circa 2 metres– 6 metres apart by 0.2 metre – 0.5 metre high and up to 2 metres wide. Features possibly represent trackways associated with adjacent gravel pit (site 324), although those to the southeast are less well defined and may be, or be confused with, possible cultivation banks. One prominent bank and ditch continues to south to at least grid reference SY 1550 9847, where it disappears into dense tall gorse.
