Full description

Polwhele, R., 1793-1806, The History of Devonshire, 361 (Monograph). SDV21030.

Dedicated to St Bridget and probably in the vicinity of a holy well: St Bride's Well. Part of the present Bridwell House is built from material from the chapel.

Bridwell was purchased in about 1620. The present house was built in 1779, at which time an old chapel near the site was pulled down.

Site of a chapel which was pulled down when the present house was built in 1779. It was dedicated to St Bridget or St Bride and suggested to have been in the vicinity of a holy well (citing Lysons (1822) and Polwhele (1797). Not mentioned in Oliver's Monasticon (1816).
