Possible former field boundaries were visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards as earthwork ditches and banks on the slopes of Honiton Hill, to the south-east of Hale Close Farm, Honiton. The earthwork remains do not correspond with any boundaries or enclosures depicted on the Tithe Map for Honiton and had therefore probably been removed prior to the 1840s. The relict remains do however fit within the field pattern depicted on the Tithe Map, which has been characterised as medieval enclosure based on strip fields, and are therefore potentially of medieval origin.
