An earthwork pit of a probable post-medieval to 19th century clay pit is visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the northeast of Downelms Farm. The oval shaped feature measures approximately 26m in length by 13m in width and is located in close proximity to a number of other clay pits depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. The earthwork remains visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016.
