The extraction pit is partly visible as an earthwork pit.

A possible extraction pit of post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the northwest of Newcott. The oval shaped earthwork measures approximately 30m in length by 18m in width and is sited on gentle to moderate northwest facing slope. Aerial photographs of 1982 additionally show a slight curvilinear earthwork bank on the eastern edge of the pit. The possible extraction pit is located in close proximity to more extensive workings 190m to the southeast. The earthwork is visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2010.
