A possible earthwork banked enclosure of potential prehistoric date is visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the northwest of Twistgates Farm. The semi-circular shaped earthwork banks form the northwest half of a possible oval or circular shaped enclosure which measures approximately 163m across, with a possible curvilinear annexe visible off the southwest edge. The possible enclosure is situated on gentle northwest facing slope. It is faintly defined on aerial photographs, but would appear to be archaeological in origin and bears close similarity to a prehistoric enclosure. The possible enclosure remains visible as an earthwork banked feature on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. Further field investigation, such as a site inspection and possible geophysical survey is recommended.
