Possible earthwork cuttings of between medieval to 19th century date are visible on aerial photographs of 1947 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, on Sandpit Hill. The sinuous northwest to southeast aligned earthworks are visible to a length of approximately 478m and appear to have been cut into the side of moderate southwest facing slope. Only the working face of these possible cuttings has been transcribed. The workings, however, likely encompassed a larger area on the southwest side of the working face which, although not clearly visible, has been included within the general monument polygon for this record. The location of these earthworks on Sandpit Hill may give some indication as to the likely purpose of these cuttings. Some caution should, however, be excercised and it is also possible the earthworks are the result of natural slippage. The earthworks are largely obscured by tree cover on aerial photographs and other digital images made available to the survey.
