Former field boundaries were visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s and digital images derived from lidar data as curvilinear earthwork ditches to the south and west of Higher Crook Farm, Combe Raleigh parish. The ditches centred on circa ST16770205 laterally abut a boundary depicted on the Tithe Map for Combe Raleigh, and their removal therefore predates the 1840s. They also fall within and conform to a wider pattern of field boundaries characterised as being of probable medieval origin and derived from strip field enclosure, as visible in extant and relict field boundaries.
