An irregularly shaped pit was visible as a slight earthwork on the west facing slopes below Wylam House Farm, on digital images derived from lidar data. The main body of the pit is roughly oval and measures circa 40 by 20 metres in size. A tapering hollow descends the slopes from the south-west edge of the pit, and might be evidence of an approach trackway or erosion from water draining from the pit.
The pit is not depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25inch First Edition map and therefore probably passed out of use before this date.
