Two former small extractive pits of probable post-medieval to 19th century date were visible on digital images derived from lidar data as earthwork pits up to circa 18 metres in length on the west facing slopes under Crown All Wood, Luppitt Parish.
The visible earthworks do not correspond with any pits or quarries depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map, and therefore probably predate the 1880s. The southernmost pit does coincide with a kink in the woodland boundary, which might support the interpretation that the pits also predate the establishment of the woodland.
