Full description
Environment Agency, 1998-2014, LiDAR DSM data (1m resolution), LIDAR ST1703 Environment Agency DSM 01-JAN-1998 to 30-SEP-2014 (Cartographic). SDV359178.
An oval earthwork pit was visible.
Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2016-2018, The Blackdown Hills AONB and East Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV359463.
A roughly oval pit almost 70 metres long and 15 metres wide was visible on digital images derived from lidar data as an earthwork on the south facing slopes to the south Dumpdon Hillfort, Luppitt Parish.
The visible earthworks do not correspond with any pit or quarry depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map but also appear to cut through the remains of a possible field boundary of medieval date. The pit was therefore probably of post-medieval to late 19th century date.
