Earthwork banks of probable post-medieval to 19th century date are visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the south of Newton Barton. The earthworks, which are northeast to southwest aligned and occupy an area of approximately 3.70 hectares of fairly level land, most likely represent the remains of agricultural improvement or represent the possible site of a former orchard, the banks providing improved drainage and increased soil depth for the fruit trees. The earthwork banks remain visible on aerial photographs of 1989.
