Earthwork banks of probable post-medieval to 19th century date are visible on aerial photographs of 1989 onwards, to the east of Burcombe Farm. The earthworks, which are northwest to southeast aligned and occupy an area of approximately 0.72 hectares of gentle northwest facing slope, may represent the remains of agricultural improvement or represent the site of former woodland or orchard, the banks providing improved drainage and increased soil depth for the trees. The earthwork banks remain partly visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs captured in 2000.
