Earthwork banks of probable post-medieval to 19th century date are visible on aerial photographs of 1948 and as cropmarks on digital images of 2014, within Upottery airfield. The earthworks are north to south aligned and occupy an area of approximately 0.95 hectares of fairly level ground, within land that is now occupied by the airfield. The earthworks, which appear to be bisected by the main perimeter trackway, most likely represent the remains of agricultural improvement or alternatively represent the site of a former orchard, the banks providing improved drainage and increased soil depth for the fruit trees. The earthwork banks may have since been levelled, although are partly visible as possible cropmarks on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2014.
