Summary
Two post medieval ditches were recorded to the south-west of Exwell Cottages during a programme of archaeological works along the route of a gas pipeline. The ditches were in line and between them was a spread of clay and stone, possibly a field entrance.

Site ATK13.02. At the southern end of the site were two post medieval ditches on the same alignment. Ditch 13.02.010 was 2.9 metres wide and 0.25 metres deep and its fill contained several sherds of post medieval pottery. Ditch 13.02.125 was 2.4 metres wide and 0.49 metres deep and its fill contained three sherds of 16th-18th century pottery and a possible medieval sherd. Between the two ditches was a spread of clay and stone, possibly a consolidation at a field entrance.
