Orchard banks of probable post-medieval to 19th century date are visible as a series of linear earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1948 onwards, at Troakes Farm. An orchard is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, although by 1948, aerial photographs show that the orchard trees have been largely grubbed up, although only partial evidence of the orchard banks are visible. Aerial photographs of 1971 show a series of parallel northeast to southwest aligned earthwork banks, on which the fruit trees were established. These banks occupy an area of approximately 0.05 hectares of gentle southwest facing slope, within an irregular shaped plot depicted on the First Edition OS map. The orchard banks are not visible after 1971 and may have been completely levelled.
