An earthwork pit of a probable post-medieval to 19th century extraction pit is visible on aerial photographs of 1944 onwards, to the southwest of Dunsgreen. The semi-circular shaped earthwork measures approximately 40m in length by 18m in width and abuts, and so post-dates, an historic field boundary along its southern edge. The extent of the earthwork is defined on the Parish Tithe Map and the field name is listed as ’Pit’ on the accompanying Tithe Apportionment. The extraction pit is visible as an earthwork on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2014.
