An earthwork pit, circa 32 by 70 metres in extent, is visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. It is interpreted as an extraction pit, probably a marl pit given the ‘Old Marl Pit’ depicted on the late-19th century OS map circa 200 metres to the north. An open-fronted structure and an unroofed feature, possibly a pond, were depicted within this feature on the historic mapping, suggesting that this sheltered spot was reused for housing stock after extraction ceased by the mid-19th century. Tree cover has obscured the pit on the available aerial photographs, and it is unclear whether any structural remains survive within the pit.
